HARVEST: Inner bark

MEDICINAL USES:
Coarsely ground and mixed with water it becomes a spongy mass which has been used to bandage wounds.
Ground and mixed with milk it turns into a soothing nutritious food similar to oatmeal and was used to soothe sore throats, coughs, upset stomachs and infants with colic.
Has been used as throat lozenges.
