HAWTHORN
(Crataegus oxyacantha)

PART USED: Berries (dried).

MEDICINAL USES:
Vasodilator. Dilates blood vessels and allows more volume to oxygenate. Increases blood supply to tissues. Can normalize blood pressure. Regulates heart action - amphoteric (will relax or stimulate heart according to its needs.)
Has been used for ailments concerning heart and its functions. Strengthens force of heart contractions while dilating vessels of coronary circulation.
Has been used for circulatory disorders, poor circulation, major circulatory distress, high blood pressure, hardened arteries, cardiac problems (to normalize heart function), angina, heart failure, and heart irregularities (influences effect on vagus nerve slowing heart rate).
Has been used to reduce fatty deposits and blood cholesterol.
Has also been used for anxiety.
