Place 3 lbs of clean, fresh bilberries in a preserving pan with 1½ lbs sugar and about 1 cupful of water. Bring to a boil and boil for 40 minutes. Bottle hot in screwtop jars. (See current literature regarding the safe procedures for preserving jams. Treat as blueberries).
