Native to Japan.

PART USED: Roots, stems and leaves.
CULTIVAR:
Variegated (A. elatior cv 'variegata'): Leaves are striped green and white.

MEDICINAL USES:
Decoction have been used for abdominal cramps, amenorrhea, diarrhea, myalgia, traumatic injuries and urinary stones.
