GROUNDPINE
aka Arthritic Ivy, Yellow Bugle

A member of the Labiatae family having square reddish stems and yellowish hairy leaves with the aroma of pine tree resin which is often grown as a crop.

PROPAGATION: By seed in autumn or spring.
NEEDS: Dryish soil and full sun.
HARVEST: Leaves in summer and dry for infusions and extracts.

USES

MEDICINAL:
Stimulant and diuretic affecting mainly the urinary system and the uterus.
Has been used internally for gout, rheumatism, and menstrual problems.

VETERINARY:
Used as a blood tonic and for all forms of rheumatism, arthritis, and weakness of joints. Used for swollen limbs of lambs.
In north Africa it is used to cure paralyzed animals and used for hysteria in horses.
DOSE for ANIMALS = 1 handful finely cut herb mixed with bran and then brewed in 1½ pints water; one cupful given morning and night. Used internally and externally.
