menuMUSTARD PLASTER
NOTE: Mustard can severely irritate skin and should probably be avoided by those with sensitive skin. Replacing the water with egg white can be of some help.

Method 1 = Mix 1 tbsp powdered Mustard and 4 tbsp whole wheat flour and enough moderately hot distilled water to make a thin paste. Spread into a soft cloth and fold up the corners to make a flat pack. Apply to area of treatment and cover with plastic wrap and then a folded towel to hold in the warmth. Should remain in place no longer than 20 minutes. Remove and clean the skin with a cotton ball dipped in olive oil to remove all traces of the mustard. Then cover the area with a clean towel and leave on overnight.

Method 2 = Combine 1 tbsp dry Mustard to 1 cup of flour. Add enough moderately hot water to make a paste. Spread over a thin soft cloth and place another cloth on top (sandwich style). Apply a light layer of olive oil to the skin. Place cloth over the oiled area then 1 layer of plastic wrap with a hot water bottle or else a heating pad (low setting) on top. Leave no longer than 10 minutes for a child or 15 min for an adult. Check often to check for irritation to the skin and remove at the first sign of trouble.
